ABRSM Scholar Aleksandra Li performed at the Music Teacher Awards for Excellence in front of nearly 300 industry guests, including teachers, hub leaders and VIPs. She played the Canzonetta from the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto (Op. 35) and his Valse-Scherzo (Op. 34) at the ceremony in Mayfair on the 9 February. The violinist was born in Vladivostok in Russia and is currently in her fourth year of a Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal College of Music. Aleksandra Li said: “It was such a privilege for me to perform at the Music Teacher Awards and play before a 'musical' audience, for people who sincerely love classical music. It was a great honour to be part of such an amazing event. “Being an ABRSM Scholar helped me realise my dream about studying at the Royal College of Music. I don’t think it would have been possible without such great help and support. “This is more than a scholarship for me. It is an opportunity to live, study and build my career in England, and to be a part of something big and wonderful.” Last year, Aleksandra also won a Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe award. Penny Milsom, ABRSM Products and Services Director, said: “Aleksandra captivated us from the moment her bow touched the strings and drew in the entire room in with her presence. “The wonderful warmth of her performance still remains with me, and it was a huge pleasure to hear her play for us.”
